Ways To Prevent Child Abductions In Your Neighborhood
As much as we don’t like to think about it, there are terrible people out there who abduct children for a number of reasons. Whether they are looking for a child of their own to raise, find pleasure in abduction, or are holding them for ransom, there are things that you can do as a neighborhood to protect your children from potential child abductions.
Set up a neighborhood meeting to talk about the potential risks of child abductions. A neighborhood watch committee is a great way to make the community feel more at ease. What this means is that the entire neighborhood will keep an eye out for suspicious activity and will report it if necessary. Not only should homeowners keep an eye on their own children, but if other children are walking around the neighborhood, it is helpful to make sure that they seem safe. Have everyone talk to their children about child abductions and what they can do to prevent it. Tell the children that they should never talk to strangers, enter a stranger’s vehicle, or accept rewards such as candy or money for getting in a vehicle. It is important for children to get home as fast as possible and to let their parents know what happened.
